All Ship crew positions are staffed with the required
STCW (Standards for Training and Certifications and
Watch keeping) as regulated by the United States Coast
Guard.
Our entire crew has many years of experience at-sea
working with youth educational programs. Even though
most of our crew comes from very diverse backgrounds,
all of them are truly concerned about helping teenagers
make the right choices. We have selected our crew based
on a high level of qualification and specific personality
characteristics. There are a lot of people who are very
capable of running boats, but when it comes to our program,
we hire only those who are positive role models and
love working with kids. Our therapists and counselors
work very closely with the entire crew to ensure that
every single teen in the program is getting the kind
of help and guidance they need. Sometimes that level
of guidance may come from the Captain and sometimes
it may come from the Chef or a Deckhand. We teach our
crew and staff a mentoring approach when working with
teens; we believe it is much more effective than the
traditional authority figure approach that many programs
utilize.
While onboard our entire crew and staff works very
hard to make sure your child's stay is structured, safe
and productive.
