Does North Rim Leadership Academy really work?

Does a short-term camp like North Rim Leadership camp really work?  Absolutely!  You maybe asking yourself, “How can North Rim turn my child around after only a few days?”  The answer is easy.  First, we only work with early intervention kids.  An early intervention kid is the child that is just beginning to show signs of rebellion, and it is only in the last few months that this child has begun to make seriously poor choices.

Secondly, North Rim Leadership camp is a wake up call.  Meaning, we show the camper the negative progression that he/she will take if his/her negative behavior continues. This child will learn that he/she has a choice… get with your parents program or find your self losing all liberty and freedom. With early intervention kids they are still reachable, and we can reason with them.  If the camper is truly an early intervention candidate they most likely will take heed to the stern warning.  Additionally, they will now have the tools to turn things around.

Lastly, but most importantly, since the parent joins the process through our Family Restoration Camp you are sending the most important message:  Which is, “I mean business!”  A pre-emptive strike is always more influential and has a better outcome than if you wait.  If you wait, the child’s behavior can reach a point where you have no other choice but to find an out-of-home placement (boarding school for troubled teens).  The child who participates in North Rim Leadership Academy will quickly come to learn that this could be the last program he/she will ever have to attend.  They learn that it is their choice.

One last thing… if the child who successfully completes the North Rim Leadership Academy fails to make new choices upon their return home he/she will come back to the camp free of charge.  You will have back up.  The North Rim camper will know that you have leverage if he/she does not take heed to your wake up call.

North Rim Leadership Academy for Troubled Teens… a wake-up call to excellence!

restoring families

Today’s troubled teens are usually good kids, coming from good families, yet they have become rebellious and are heading in the wrong direction.

The “troubled teen” that we are referring to is really a great kid (good hearted) but is making poor decisions (defiant, lazy, lying, sneaking out at night, experimenting with drugs/alcohol, sexually active, doing poorly in school, unmotivated, hanging out with the wrong crowd, throwing temper tantrums when they don’t get their way

“The troubled teen we serve is emotionally immature and in self-destruction mode.  These young men/women are ungrateful, selfish, self-absorbed, and self-centered.  Additionally, these kids live in a fantasy-based world (void of responsibility, accountability, and consequences), living for the moment, unwilling to invest into their future.”  Robert Nording, Executive Director

troubled teen camps, challenge camp, wilderness programThe perfect candidate for North Rim Leadership Academy is a very smart child who has become a major manipulator; a natural born leader who is not living up to his/her potential.  These young people only care about the acceptance they find from their friends (who are also rebellious and emotionally immature).  These future leaders have tremendous potential, but right now they are not able to make decisions that are in their best interest.  To them, everything is about having fun and hanging out doing stupid things.  They are using the very best part of themselves (natural leadership abilities) to destroy themselves (rules don’t apply to these kids).

“These children believe that their parents are retarded, gay, and stupid.  Moreover, these kids are professional “victims”, blaming all their woes on others. Sound familiar?  If you are a parent of a “troubled teen” we are here to tell you that you are not alone.”  Brian Hogie, Program Director

teen boarding schoolWelcome to North Rim Leadership Academy. If you are searching for immediate intervention for your troubled youth we are here to serve you and your child. North Rim Leadership Academy serves kids 10 to 17 with a “wake up” call.  At North Rim we teach “emotional intelligence” and “choice theory”.  Our goal is to awaken your child to the reality that life is not fair, and successful people work hard and take responsibility for their choice.  Additionally, we teach that “happiness” is a direct result of our best choices over a period of time.  Happiness is found in serving others and leading others into “significance”.

For a natural born leader happiness is found when we serve/lead others into greatness.  In other words, if we are unhappy it is no one’s fault but our own.  Our poor choices have created the unhappy place we have found ourselves in.  Essentially, in regard to “normal people”, being self-centered and selfish causes unhappiness (depression)… and it should!  And, if we find ourselves “trapped”, “oppressed”, and without good options it is because we betrayed ourselves by making a series of poor choices.

At North Rim Leadership Academy we teach our students to become accountable to themselves and others by re-learning to make good choices consistently.  More importantly, if we truly want to find happiness (fulfillment) it can always be found through a direct result of our willingness to invest ourselves (making good choices consistently) and to lead others to do the same (creating win-win-win situations).

“At North Rim Leadership Academy we teach students to become overcomers, powerful leaders, with restored destiny.”  Craig Rogers, Co-Founder
